Profiles from an early warning system for nature
Conservation International
2011-2013
The Tropical Ecology Assessment and Monitoring Network (TEAM) provides an early warning system for loss of biodiversity in tropical forests. Through a global web of field stations, scientists use standardized methods to collect real-time data that is publicly available. Our film series follows three TEAM scientists on three different continents monitoring animals, vegetation and climate. “We can only monitor global threats if we have studies running at the global scale,” says Uganda site manager Badru Mugerwa from Uganda. “And that’s what TEAM is doing.”
To help TEAM effectively guide conservation action, we’ve produced four short films, a large image library and an interactive ebook over five trips to Africa, Asia and Latin America. The photographs have been used extensively by Conservation International and other project partners and the films have toured internationally.
Learn more about TEAM at teamnetwork.org.
TEAM has 17 site managers working in tropical forests in 15 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. During a training in Dar es Salaam, we interviewed and photographed each site manager to produce this print-on-demand magazine.

To secure long-term support for the Network, TEAM’s leadership asked for a comprehensive visual aid that they could share with current and potential donors and other partners. This 70-page interactive ebook features a text narrative, five films, four photo galleries and profiles of TEAM scientists.
